Hanami - Osaka Castle (Elijah view)

(Elijah)

After going to the Philosophers Path roughly a week early, we went to Osaka Castle during full bloom. The first couple pictures are of the sakura trees along the river right outside the train station near Osaka Castle. Our plan was to have a picnic under the sakura trees with all of our friends. Our food of choice was onigiri made by Georgia, Teresa, and myself that morning as well as various snack foods brought by everyone else.

Upon arrival we realized just how crowded it was and were walking around searching for a place where there was enough room to sit comfortably since there were tons of other people all doing the same thing we wanted to do. Eventually we found a nice place and spent a few hours hanging out and eating junk food. Once we had finished eating we started to walk around the castle admiring all of the pretty trees in combination with the beautiful grounds of the castle. While we were walking around the castle we happened upon an old Japanese man who started speaking to us in Japanese. Since we had Yusaku with us (our Japanese friend) we were able to have a relatively interactive conversation with him about what Japan used to be like and he recommended that we listen to old Japanese music because he thinks it is the best kind of music and a lot of people today, Japanese included, don't appreciate it anymore.

After it started to get dark, we decided to leave the castle and go get dinner. We decided to go to the hamburger shop called Critters that Austin, his mom, and I went to while she was in Japan. Aside from McDonald's, that burger shop is the most nostalgic thing I've eaten in Japan, and Yusaku said that he'd never had a burger that good in Japan before. Even though he smothered it in mustard...
